A Vision Realized
In the early 1940’s and just 20 years after women had received the right to vote, Ella Drollinger took a drive to explore a budding neighborhood around Mines Field, which was just a dirt landing strip surrounded by bean fields. An experienced real estate developer, when not the usual vocation for a woman, she took a chance and funded construction of the first commercial buildings in Westchester, building south from the southeast corner of La Tijera and Sepulveda Boulevards.
